The mineral rainbow is the title of the temporary exhibition that will open on this occasion. The exhibits will illustrate causes and diversity of colours in minerals, as well as the colour-based usages of minerals since the beginning of humankind. Beside the new exhibition, adults are invited to get a fresh, chromatic-based perspective on the permanent collections, by following a thematic route. Children will be invited to draw, using mineral pigment-based colours, and to learn more on mineral colours under the supervision of volunteer students, in a dedicated workshop-corner. Zoology Museum Event title: Animals’ World Address: 5-7 Clinicilor Street, Cluj-Napoca (Ground floor of the Biology Deparment) Telephone: +40 264 595.739 dceuca@ubbcluj.ro www.ubbcluj.ro/ro/structura/muzee/muzeul_zoologic.html

The Zoology Museum invites people to visit its permanent exhibition, which includes animals in phylogenetic order (starting with the simplest structure to the most complex). There´s a particular way in setting up the exhibits: animals are positioned along or against other objects from nature or artificially-constructed backgrounds, aiming a plausible rendition. By this, the exhibition allows an easier display of the wildlife inhabiting the mountain reed of far-off exotic places; or behavioural aspects pertaining to the fight for survival, shelter building or taking care of cubs or other baby animals. The Zoology Museum also presents the “Păsări din Bucovina” (Birds in Bucovina) temporary exhibition, whose didactic approach is provided not only by the naturalised avifaunistical specimens, but also by panels illustrating the biotopoi they originated from. The exhibition is further developed by explaining the difference between the notion of „fauna” and „collection”, as well as presenting the basic methods of avifaunistical research.

Vivarium Event title: Vipers in Romania - Photography exhibition Address: 5-7 Clinicilor Street, Cluj-Napoca (semi-basement of the Zoology Institute, west side) Telephone: +40 264 59.57.39 ext 115 tavicr@yahoo.com www.ubbcluj.ro/ro/structura/muzee/muzeul_vivariu.html
