On the occasion of the Night of the Museums 2012, the visitors will gain access to the recently restored Western balcony of the Bánffy Palace. It was from this balcony that, throughout history, various political figures held their speeches, addressing the inhabitants of Cluj: from emperors like Francis I of Austria or Franz Joseph I, to the communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu. In addition, paintings depicting the first owners of the Palace (count Bánffy György – governour of Transylvania between 1787-1822; and his consort) will be on show for the very first time.
