Romula, the biggest Roman city in the south of the Carpathian Mountains, was the residence of the Dacia Malvensis governor and one of the most important economic, trade and cultural centers from the Lower Danube. First class archaeological monument, Romula is a reference not only for Romanians history, but also for the Danubian Roman provinces. Until now, the archaeology research in situ represent only 0.7% from the total surface of 30 million sqm. Nevertheless, over 10,000 objects are now in collections at the Romanati Museum in Caracal, Romanian National History Museum, National Army Museum and Oltenia Museum from Craiova: sarcophaguses, statues, tombstones, ceramic and glass pottery, and other artifacts crafted from gold, silver, bronze, iron and bones. Considering the number of recovered artifacts from the infinitesimal surface covered by archaeology research and the sporadic media coverage of this European class monument, we are persuaded Romula is a mostly unknown history treasure. Our guests will have a first contact with this exceptional monument, honoured by Roman Emperors.
