According to legend, the sword once belonged to Ubul knight, lord of native Caransebes, Romania. When Frederick Barbarossa, Holy Roman Emperor, started in 1189 for the Third Crusade with Philip Augustus and Richard the Lionheart, Ubul took the head of 2,000 soldiers. After participating in the siege of Philippopolis in Thrace, the knight and his men returned to Caransebes. But they did not return empty handed: they carried with them a wagon full of precious objects and jewels, pulled by camels. What was the surprise of discovering inhabitants, not only treasure but also the curious hitch! Most of them had never heard of these strange animals hunchbacks, and never forgot the noble Ubul and his camels …
