Night of Museums
La Nuit des Musées | Noaptea Muzeelor 19 May 2012
Night of Museums 2012 in figures
The European Night of Museums is a successful event inaugurated by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication and already at the 8th edition. This year its official patrons are the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
The Night of Museums is the nocturnal twin of the International Day of Museums organized on the 18th of May.
The National Network of Romanian Museums (RNMR) is the official partner of the international event, coordinates and promotes the event in Romania and also supports it by consistently promoting activities organized by all the participating Romanian museums, through the national media and through the site www.noapteamuzeelor.ro. Starting in 2011, RNMR is coordinating the Bucharest museum circuit, and this year the network is proposing a new pilot circuit in Cluj. Since the maps featuring involved organizations gathered much appreciation from the public, RMNR invites people in Bucharest and Cluj to use this year´s maps, printed with the support of the National Cultural Fund Administration. The maps are going to be found free of charge in the premises of the museums participating in the event.
About 3.000 European museums are celebrating the event in 2012. For further details please visit http://nuitdesmusees.culture.fr
In Romania, approximately 130 museums are waiting for their night visitors. They celebrate the Night of Museums 2012 with various exhibitions, shows, screenings and special interactive events.
Night of Museums in Bucharest During the night of May 19th 2012, museums of Bucharest will await visitors with the regular and special exhibitions, concerts, dance, theatre, movies and interactive events. It is further a very popular service, as in 2011 a lot of people have chosen to travel the “MINI style”. Bikes will be taken from and left over at I’Velo center in Tineretului Park, from 10 pm - 0 - takeover, 2 am – 4 am - reception. It is compulsory to have the ID for takeover. In addition, as in other editions, Night of Museums buses provided by Bucharest City Hall and RATB will cover the route of the museums.
