For the 50th anniversary, the largest ethnographic open-air exhibition in Europe confides, look out for it! You are welcome to unveil its treasures in the Simon House (1200), unlock Greuceanu’s secrets at the theater of shadows and the efforts of the Almost famous cricket through a GONG Theater story at the Ethno-Techno-Park (2030–2230), reunite at the Country Fair for the Transylvanian gourmet marathon (1300– 0100) with the Gypsy Airlines Band (2100–2200) and rediscover the folk art of the regions of Mărginimea Sibiului, Valea Târnavelor and Oltenia on the lake stage (1930– 2030).

13.00 - 01.00 - Transylvanian gourmet marathon Country Fair. Special edition Venue: area of the Country Fair Within the space dedicated to the traditional gastronomy, the ASTRA National Museum Complex suggests a route in Transylvania through the sense of taste. The special edition of the Country Fair becomes a genuine marathon of the traditional foods, crossing the milestones of the various ethnicity which make up the specific Transylvanian landscape. You are invited to enjoy the whole day of 18th of May 2013, until late at night, tasting delicious foods, prepared under the lustful eyes of the visitor, then return home a bit more „cultivated” from a gastronomic point of view. 19.30 - 20.30 - Folk music performance Venue: The lake stage The folk music will be performed by six young performers of folk music, pupils and graduates of the „Ilie Micu” Folk Art and Crafts School from Sibiu, class of Mariana Anghel - Ionela Sterp, Iulia Banciu, Ion Chiş, Mariana Jianu, Ancuţa Costea, and Ilie Dura, wearing authentic traditional costumes. The young bards, winners of famous national contests, will performs songs from the ethnographic regions of: Mărginimea Sibiului, Valea Târnavelor and Oltenia. 21.00 - 22.00 - Concert Gypsy Airlines Band from the village of Zece Prăjini Venue: the area of the Country Fair An extraordinary European phenomenon takes place in the village of Zece Prăjini from Iaşi: the entire male population plays at least one musical instrument, be it baritone, trumpet, saxophone or clarinet. The musicians are grouped in music bands, all having experience in private parties or concerts in Romania and abroad. It is now the turn of the young to spread their skill in the art of music. The songs of the Gypsy Airlines Band have influences from the Balkans traditional music, as they are rhythmic, suitable for the young of age and young at heart audience present in the Gourmet Marathon. 20.30 - 21.30 - The almost famous cricket Venue: Ethno Techno Park Marketing, Tourism, Education Department 004 0269 202 419 GONG Theater for Children and Youth from Sibiu presents in Ethno Techno Park the performance The almost famous cricket, musical performance inspired by the fables of the French writer Jean de la Fontaine. Children will be delighted by the puppets, characters, as well as the cheerful atmosphere of the performance. Because his wish is to become famous, The cricket goes through several events together with his friends. He insists in his desire to be performant in music and succeeds in the end to fulfill his dream, through work and perseverance. 21.30 – 22.30 - Object and story. Theatre of shadows at the ASTRA Museum Venue: Ethno Techno Park Marketing, Tourism, Education Department 004 0269 202 419 The educational project Object and Story. Theater of shadows in the ASTRA Museum addresses pupils between 12-18 years old, due to the increased interest of this age segment for the voluntary involvement in the creation work, role play and taking responsibilities within a work group but also the students of the Sibiu Theater Art Department which will be involved in this project, together with the professors coordinating them. The tangible and intangible heritage will be evaluated through the creation of the 15 pupils involved in the project of the Greuceanu play inside the EthnoTechnoPark.

The exhibition From the culture and art of the peoples of the world has ethnographic items from other continents dated 19 century, an Egyptian mummy with 2000 years old painted sarcophagus (Late Ptolemaic Period), visual and narrative presentations of the museum collections. The temporary exhibitions „Matsuri” and „Kagura”. Holidays and sacred dances in Japan. Photographs by prof.univ.dr. Angela Hondru have answers to the author’s questions and Towards the Country of the Rising Sun is a collective exhibition of origami and plastic arts. The exhibition is dedicated to the Transylvanian ethnographer and collector Horst Klusch, who has been scientifically collecting items for over half a century, items which after having been used in the households, were salvaged and integrated in other value structures. The collection does not only contain ceramic objects, but also valuable meerschaum pipes, chandeliers and other brass items, painted furniture, different items made out of copper, tin or iron, flatirons, glass objects, icons painted on glass.
