Cluj Napoca Exhibition opening: In 3D - exhibition of anaglyph images achieved algorithmically (the exhibition requires visitors to wear red/cyan 3D glasses). Presents: Loredana Tomşa, drd. The exhibition presented during the Night of Museums is an avant-garde one as it consists in anaglyph images. The artist Loredana Tomșa thinks that currently almost everything that represents images reproduced on various types of media are made of planar images (bidimensional or 2D): the written and printed world in books, magazines, billboards, various types of photography, images on TV or monitor. The world of 2D images that surrounds us is quite comfortable and it has become so normal that if we see a stereoscopic image in a magazine, on a TV monitor or a 3D cinema it seems to us that is has amazing effects. The anaglyphs presented in the artist’s exhibition are images made in special colors that, viewed with special glasses (with a red filter on the left eye and blue lens at the right one), produce the sensation of tridimensional, spatial, an effect obtained through the overlapping of the two planar images. These are vibrant images that actively engage the viewer’s perceptions and sensations. What it is captivating in the 3D stereo art is the fact that it impeaches our perception, the way in which we see and recognize the world around us. Specific to the anaglyphs presented in this exhibition is the fact that they are algorithmically achieved through computer codes. As a result, their virtual character is more emphasized as they seem mathematical and geometric relations encoded computationally in order to generate a form with a strong aesthetic character. An interactive artistic vision of space that intends to open new horizons on ways to perceive the space, the relations and the lapses among the forms which inhabit it, the spatial illusions and that will lead to the development of new concepts about ourselves and the world we live in. Exhibition opening: The Idea of Man in Totemic Art, artist: Mircea Pop, with the collaboration of the Hășdate-Gherla Museum of Xylography. Mircea Pop creates different types of art: xylograph, painting, wood carving, and decorative ceramics. The exhibition “The idea of man in totemic art” consists in works made of wood carved in relief and ronde-bosse, but also in oil paintings. His works are distinguished by archetypal and colorful symbols and signs, represented in symmetry, some stylized which are related to the spiritual nature of man along with his experiences, feelings and the rapture of life. Based on the concept of Man, of shaping the ego in searching and finding the self, the Cosmic Trees, created by the artist, are individualized and personalized, symbolizing the Man in transcendence, in search of self and God. Mircea Pop’s works use religious, mythical symbols and signs that are also found in nature or in folk art: Almond- the pit of life; Apple- the flesh, corporeality; Egg- genesis, birth, death; Pomegranate-the pits of the soil; Leaf- emotion, vibration of matter, ephemeral; Flower- offering, beauty; Butterfly- sensory; Lily- purity, Jesus crucified; Square- earth, fatality; Cube-stone of wisdom; Heart- desire, hell, paradise; Boar- spiritual power; Bear- temporal power; Bird- spirit; Fish-Christianity; Rooster- dawn, awakening; Hearts- fulfillment; Spire- labyrinth; Pelican- fire; Eye- omniscience; Camel- sacred spirit; Gate- entrance, passage. The works have different names such as: The Bird Man, The gate Man, The Butterfly Man, The Bear Man, The Boar Man, The Pelican Man, The Camel Man, The Pomegranate Man, The Stork Man.
