As institution preserving a rich documentary thesaurus referring to the Romanian Royal House, National Archives of Romania organizes the exhibition entitled „Royal Childhood”, intended to be opened between May and December 2013. The exhibition gathers original documents and pictures of the Royal couples’ children: King Carol I – Queen Elisabeta, King Ferdinand – Queen Maria, King Carol II – Queen Elena, King Mihai – Queen Ana. On this occasion, various images will be exposed, referring to King Carol I’s sole daughter, Princess Mărioara, who died in her childhood when was no more than 4 year-old. At the same time, there are pictures of the six children of King Ferdinand and Queen Maria: Carol (the future King Carol II), Elisabeta, Maria, Nicolae, Ileana, Mircea, and also pictures during King Mihai’ childhood. The novelty of the exhibition relies upon the unpublished images from the childhood of King Mihai’s daughters and various birth, baptism and decease acts, the studies attended, the school situation and the diplomas received by the Royal family. The exhibition is completed by fragments of films referring to its main topic.
