The Museum of Agriculture in Slobozia was set up by Prefect’s Office of Ialomita County Decision no. 176/1990 and was officially opened for the public on 25th of March 1996.  The Museum has a nuilding of 3886 m2 (detailed area) and an afferent land in area of 8420 m2. It is the only museum of this profile in the county of Ialomita and in the country. The museum’s object of activity is represented by the history of agriculture, agrarian anthropology and specific industrial archaeology all over our country. The real estate museum patrimony is composed of the Wooden Church Poiana – historical and architectural monument (1737) and Model Farm Perieţi, monument of agrarian history, the largest farm producing vegetable and flower seeds in Eastern Europe in the first half of the XX century. The movable assets of the National Museum of Agriculture is structured on four great collections as follows:

1. Agricultural tools and machines and industrial archaeology plants.
2. Ethnography (agricultural tools made in workshops and rural homes, transport means, home appliances, furniture, pottery, textiles, clothing, horse accessories, traditional costumes).
3. History – memorialistic.
4. Art – religion – literature. The initiative for museum exhibition means different sectors with a huge amount of work. Temporary thematical exhibitions, pavilion exhibitions and open-air ones, practical demonstrations organized in specific programmes, educational partnerships, all these make the M.N.A. patrimony move in order to show human beings relationship with spiritual, economical, agrarian life etc. At the museum there are several exhibitions opened at the moment, such as: -  Testimonies of belief -  exhibition which brings together objects and documents from the museum’s patrimony and of the Wooden Church Poiana. The exhibition was varnished in the day of Announciation, as it was the day the Museum of Agriculture celebrated 16 years since its first opening for the public;

• Ploughing – history and civilisation and Tractor in Romanian agriculture, exhibition – incursion in the history of Romanian villages, an homage and a testimony of gratitude for the people working the land, who have helped us define and establish, to a certain extent, the content of universal agrarian history;
• From the old days cuisine, exhibition that presents aspects of Romanian traditional cuisine (cooking tools, machines, furniture, recipe books); in the exhibition we published the 2013 calendar “From the old days cuisine”, comprising images that show objects from the museum’s patrimony and information regarding the Romanian culinary traditions; -The ironing machine on the steam of time – exhibition which shows the public the ironing machines and presses in the museum’s patrimony, accompanied by images that constitute an evolutive history over the years, of laundry and ironing clothing in the workshops, in the boyars’ houses and the peasant’s homes in Romania;
• Culture of Bees – Romanian traditions, thematic exhibition that comprises important testimonies from the profile collection of the museum;
• Exhibition of projects and models of the twelfth graders, Architecture profile, of „Ionel Perlea” Arts Highschool Slobozia Visitors can also see the special warehouse where they can admire the collections of locomobiles, the wheat threshers, agricultural machines and means of transport etc. Last but not least, the Wooden Church Poiana can also be visited, a unique monument of architecture and history for the county of Ialomiţa and the open air annexes in the interior yard and the park of the museum: traditional ovens for baking bread, “coşerul”/ barn (1869)- Slimnic, jud. Sibiu, well rings (1853, 1937) and funerary objects (1889, 1877).
