The exhibition “Stereoscopy –Searching for the Relief” presents in detail the main procedures of obtaining the plastic image in relief, starting from the classical system of stereoscopy and until the newer achievement of modern technique – photograph in coherent light – Holography. The proposed topic shall be richly illustrated through the variety of exhibits belonging to the collection of “Ştefan Procopiu” Science and Technique Museum in Iaşi: albums of the epoch, glass plates and stereoscopic calotypes (also known as talbotypes), photo cameras and stereoscopic finders produced by the large specialized companies: Voigtländer, Franke & Heidecke, (Germany), Julien Richard (France), and also items specific to the 19th century ambient. 19:15 - opening of the exhibition - photography competition “Photographic Slalom” The exhibition addresses young amateur photographers of Iași aged 15 - 19, with the purpose of stimulating the interest of the young generation for the photographic art, of discovering and promoting the talented youth and of valorizing their works included in the competition. Within the exhibition, the Carol Popp de Szathmari Award shall be granted for expressiveness and refinement in the photographic technique and Nestor Heck award for debut. Historical Personalities The exhibition is designed as a reference event in the cultural life of the city, a veritable historical “visiting card” of the first Academy of Fine Arts in Romania, where there shall be present names of the founders such as Gheorghe Panaiteanu Bardasare or Constantin Stahi, and also of famous graduates and professors, such as Ştefan Dumitrescu, Nicolae Tonitza or Corneliu Baba. By displaying these rare books, the intention is to present the features of 19th century book bindings and the materials used at the elaboration of book covers. Exhibited volumes are very beautiful due to the materials used at the book covers and also due to the ornaments and the technique of execution. General knowledge competition for the secondary school pupils on the topic ”The Palace of Ruginoasa and its legends”, organized in partnership with the Secondary School of Ruginoasa.
