The Museum of Agriculture in Slobozia was opened for the public in 1996 and its object of activity is represented by the history of agriculture, agrarian anthropology and specific industrial archaeology, being the only museum of this profile in the country. Structure:

  • Wooden church “Poiana” - historical and architectural monument of the eighteenth century found on the list of the National Cultural Heritage and on the list of Historical Monuments in County Ialomita.

  • Model Farm Perieţi – the largest farm producing vegetable seeds and flowers in Eastern Europe (1935-1949), agrarian history monument found on the National Cultural Heritage list and on the list of Historical Monuments Ialomita County, with an area of 5.4 ha and 18 buildings (mansion, warehouses, stables, water tower etc.)

  • In situ and outdoor units: complex installation containing stone mill (1935) and mill machine to refinish the cloth (1912), Dănicei, Vâlcea County, fountain hanks (1853, 1937), funeral inscriptions (1889, 1887), barn (1869).

  • Mobile patrimony: object structured in collections such as: tools, agriculture machines and industrial archaeology installations, ethnography (agricultural tools made in rural workshops and households, transport means, household objects, furniture, ceramics, textile tools).

Currently, the museum opened the following exhibitions:

  • “Testimonies of Faith” – objects and documents from museum patrimony and Wooden church Poiana;-

  • “The ironing machine on the steam of time” – exhibition that underlines steam irons and press irons next to images that constitute a history of washing and ironing into workshops, nobleman and peasant household in Romania;- “Honey making – Romanian traditions”, exhibition that comprises important testimonies from the profile collection of the museum;

  • “Time in the perception of the Romanian peasant” - exhibition that outlines the collection of watches and other objects used over time to symbolically express the flowing time, and it is structured on three sections: human time as a result of reflection throughout history, time as a sacred dimension according to the Romanian peasant and time with lucrative value at the Romanian peasant;

  • “Harvesters, threshing and winnowers tools and machines” – exhibition of traditional tools used for cereals harvesting (sickles, scythes, brackets and rakes etc.) as well as agricultural machine specific for period of mechanization introduction in Romania (harvesters, thrasher, circle, threshing machine, loco-mobile, etc.);

  • “Wreath of wheat” - the exhibition presents two aspects of our popular traditional culture “agrarian spirituality” (rites, customs, agrarian ceremonies) and traditional means of storing grain;

  • “Deportation in Bărăgan – testimonials from the history of a tragedy” - tribute to the thousands of suffering victims of deportation in Bărăgan, on Rusallii’s day 1951. Exhibition was organized within the project “Bread of Peace in Romania ” initiated by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection in Germany and Association “Frienden Brot” - Germany.
